Under the direction of the USDOE Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE), a set of college and career readiness standards for the adult basic education system was developed in direct alignment with the K-12 Common Core State Standards.
This adult-focused set of standards provides a group of manageable and essential college and career readiness (CCR) standards that reflect broad agreement among subject matter experts in adult education about what is desirable for adult students to know to be prepared for college, technical training programs, and employment in the 21st century.
