This webinar presents the perspectives of YouthBuild grantees and Workforce Development Agencies in promoting Registered Apprenticeship.  Staff representing YouthBuild grantees and staff from Workforce Development Agencies are encouraged to attend this exciting, dynamic exchange on November 7 at 2:00 pm ET.

Description

YouthBuild grantees that partner with Workforce Development Agencies have access to resources that support graduate transitions into Registered Apprenticeship. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) l creates openings in two important ways.  First, 75 precent of Title I funding is targeted to youth-16-24 years old who are out- of-work and out-of-school.  Some of these funds can be used to support work-based learning. YouthBuild students can co-enroll with local Workforce Development Agencies to take advantage of resources. Second, WIOA promotes Registered Apprenticeship and names YouthBuild as a pre-apprenticeship program.

This webinar will provide local examples of how Workforce Development Agencies work with YouthBuild grantees to support graduates entering Registered Apprenticeship.  Webinar presenters will include staff from YouthBuild grantee organizations and the staff from Workforce Development Agencies who work with them.

Grantees and workforce development agencies will answer the following questions:

  • What WIOA resources are available to support work-based learning opportunities and apprenticeship pathways?
  • How does co-enrollment work support these opportunities?
  • How do Workforce Development Agencies currently work with YouthBuild grantees?
  • What do these relationships suggest for other YouthBuild grantees seeking similar partnerships?
